At Girls on the Run (GOTR) we inspire girls in grades 3rd-6th to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. GOTR offers a 10-week program in the Fall and Spring, as well as Camp GOTR in the summer.

Home School PE is a part of the App State Health and Physical Education (HPE) Program, housed in the Department of Recreation Management and Physical Education. Classes are offered at three developmental levels: Cadets (5-6 years-old), Juniors (7-8 years), and Seniors (9+ years).

The Spooky Duke 5K and 10K

The Spooky Duke 5K and 10K is a beloved community event that supports the Parent to Parent Family Support Network of the High Country. This vital program provides free support to families who have experienced the premature birth of a child, the loss of a child, or are raising a child with special needs. Housed within the Appalachian Institute for Health and Wellness, Parent to Parent serves families across Alleghany, Ashe, Mitchell, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yancey counties. 

Girls on the Run 5K

Girls on the Run 5K

The Girls on the Run of the High Country (GOTR-HC) 5K is celebrated twice each year as the culminating event in our 10-week GOTR curriculum. The 5k is open to the general public and current and past GOTR participants, coaches, and families.
