Community Health and Fitness Assessment Program
The Community Health and Fitness Assessment (CHFA) Program is provided at App State's Cardiopulmonary Laboratory. High-quality health and fitness testing are offered to community members and App State students, faculty and staff to help you set goals and check your progress.
Fall Prevention and Wellness
Fall Prevention and Wellness programs prioritize the safety and well-being of aging adults through evidence-based programs such as A Matter of Balance and Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention that are tailored to enhance balance, strength, confidence, and overall physical resilience.

Girls on the Run of the High Country
At Girls on the Run (GOTR) we inspire girls in grades 3rd-6th to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. GOTR offers a 10-week program in the Fall and Spring, as well as Camp GOTR in the summer.
Home School PE
Home School PE is a part of the App State Health and Physical Education (HPE) Program, housed in the Department of Recreation Management and Physical Education. Classes are offered at three developmental levels: Cadets (5-6 years-old), Juniors (7-8 years), and Seniors (9+ years).
Fuel Your Game Watauga
Fuel Your Game Watauga is a nutrition education program designed to enhance performance and reduce injuries among middle school and high school student-athletes.
Races
The Cub 7-Mile Race
The Cub, a.k.a. "Valle Crusis 7-Miler," takes place in April and is open to all ages. Offering unsurpassed beauty, mountain charm and cool running temperatures, The Cub race is unique, challenging and highly fun.
Proceeds from the race support a variety of outreach and engagement programs, including Girls on the Run of the High Country.
Girls on the Run 5K
The Girls on the Run of the High Country (GOTR-HC) 5K is celebrated twice each year as the culminating event in our 10-week GOTR curriculum. The 5k is open to the general public and current and past GOTR participants, coaches, and families.
